New Streaming Service

I'm just going to take a quick second and let you all know about a new horror movie streaming service called....Shudder. If you search for it on Facebook, you are taken straight to their page, which gives you a link to their website. Sign up with their email, and you will be eligible for their beta service for 60 days. So of course I signed up. It looks like it has a wider variety than sites like Screambox and FrightPix, which is a most for me. Upon looking a this site, I see quite a few films I have already seen. While I liked a lot of the films on their, I'm not interested in ultimately paying for a subscription in two months, to watch the same movies over and over again. Shudder has assured me they will be adding 100s of films in the near future. So we shall see. Throughout the 60 days, I will try and review films I have watched strictly off of that site. I'll leave a little note as to which movies I have actually chosen off of this site. After the trial ends, I will let everyone know if this site is worth signing up for or not. Time I take my journey into Shudder, look for a movie review from that site in the next few days.

On a side note, I am happy to see this emergence of streaming sites dedicated to us who love all things horror.

We Are Still Here (2015)

Hey everyone, back once again with another review. Heard about this Indie flick from a horror FB page I follow, and decided to check it out. So here is my review.

Summary: In the cold, wintery fields of New England, a lonely old house wakes up every thirty years - and demands a sacrifice. (As always, summary provided by IMDB.com)

I was kind of excited to watch this film. It seemed to have pretty high marks. And you all know how I feel about Indie films. They are usually the best kind of horror out there. This one however, it was terrible. Terrible and boring. I couldn't get myself into it. It was very slow, with very little happening until the end of the film. Where it all of a sudden got very gory. I'm ok with gore, seeing as I'm a huge fan of the Saw series. However, if you're claiming this is a ghost tale, keep the gore out of it. It also was just an incredibly lackluster storyline, and the acting was poor. I was very annoyed with one of the characters, and her part would have been best left out, since she literally brought nothing to the table. I just can't even think of things to say about this movie, that would detail how boring and how much of a time waster it was.

My suggestion, skip this one. You'll be bored. There are a million other ghost films out there that would be much better suited to your horror needs.

Need Opinions

So I may not have a lot of followers on my blog, but I am asking for an opinion from the ones I do follow. Would you all be interested in seeing video reviews from me? I was thinking of doing those and a small written review for my blog. I figured I'd be able to show my emotions for the movies a lot better. I was also thinking of having you all join me, and give your opinions as well. Make this more of a community. Hit me up on Twitter or my Facebook, and let me know what you think. If it generates enough interest, me and my horror in crime partner will start doing them.

Insdious: Chapter 3

Well everyone, I am back. I've been trying to find enough time with my busy schedule to write down some reviews, as I had been promising. This weekend has given me the perfect opportunity to try and bust out a few. So for my first one back, I am going to write a review on the horror movie I have seen most recently. That movie would be Insidious: Chapter 3.

Summary:" A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity." (Summary provided by IMDB.com)

I went into this movie not expecting much. It was the only horror movie opening that night, and my best friend and I, always go see the latest horror movies together. I literally hated the first two, and found them boring. They were original, but boring. So I literally had low expectations for this one. I am happy to say, it went a 100x above my expectations. I loved this movie. There were quite a few scenes that were unsettling. That caused goosebumps. That is rare for me. My best friend and I jumped. I also really liked how you got a lot of Elise's story. How things started for her. How she meet Tucker and Specs. The entity was also scary and unsettling. This movie put me on edge for the rest of the night, and that hasn't happened since 'The Conjuring'.

So if you're thinking about seeing this movie, please go see it. If you weren't going to see it, reconsider and go see it. I may be pushing this a bit far, but it is one of the best horror movies that has come out in the past few years. Also, word of caution for my horror hounds, do not contact the dead. Seriously, do not try and contact the dead. You may end up with an entity like the one in the movie coming after you.
