May (2002)

Movie Summary: Psychological horror about a lonely young woman traumatized by a difficult childhood, and her increasingly desperate attempts to connect with the people around her. (imdb.com)

If you've ever asked me to suggest a movie for you to watch, chances are I've suggested this one. This movie is written and directed by one of my favorites, Lucky McKee. It stars the lovely and talented Angela Bettis, who is my ultimate scream queen. This movie goes deeper than a lot of horror movies. Focusing on a lonely young woman, and what that has done to her psyche. When that psyche is tested, it culminates into something gruesome at the end. This movie is just brilliant. There is a reason why this is one of my favorite movies of all time. I could watch it over and over again, and will probably watch it again tonight. I really suggest you take the time out to watch it. It's definitely worth a watch. I feel like some of us may have a little bit of May in all of us.

After you've seen this movie, let me know what you think of it. I'd really love to hear others opinions on this film.

The ABCs of Death (2012)

This is a huge anthology film. 26 directors, each assigned a letter, given total creative freedom, must come up with a short that goes with the letter.

This was definitely a very interesting, weird, and twisted movie. That being said, I really enjoyed it. It was definitely an ambitious take on not only horror films, but on anthology films as well. Some of the letters are really amazing. E, R, N, Q, S, T are a few that stand out in my mind. When you watch them you will see what I mean. Some were down right horrible. Some were just WTF. When you see letter F, you'll know what I mean by that. Definitely don't get put off by some of the more weirder and horrible letters. There were only a few of those in the midst of some great ones. This is definitely a must watch for any horror fan out there.

Would You Rather (2012)

Movie Summary: Desperate to help her ailing brother, a young woman agrees to compete in a deadly game of "Would You Rather," hosted by a sadistic aristocrat.(Picture and summary courtesy of imdb.com)

I decided to watch this movie on a whim. Saturday afternoon, not feeling well, might as well pick a random horror movie. Plus I am a fan of Jeffrey Combs. Basically what you have in this movie is a rich man, who promises to help whoever is the last man standing at the end of the night. At first you think it will be harmless. He gives two people a large sum of money for breaking things in their lifestyles. No big deal. However, we find the game to be a lot more sadistic than that. The game is called Would You Rather, and instead of stupid and funny things, they have to chose between two horrific choices. Sounds like a good concept right? Wrong. This movie sucked. I found it to be rather boring and drag on. The things they were supposed to do, though they sounded gruesome, didn't really end up that way while watching. I couldn't wait for this movie to be over and done with. I can't believe I watched the entire thing, though I did pause it for a long time while I went and did other things. This is usually a sign of how horrible a movie really is for me. Then the ending. You knew right from the start who was going to win. No surprise there. The events that took place after that were also very predictable. Sorry Brittany Snow, but this movie is a big fat fail. Do yourselves a favor and skip over this.
